In Another Life — A Mini Painting Series
I’ve always been fascinated by the way we treat our pets almost like people. We give them personalities, emotions, attitudes, and even a sense of style. This project started from that idea and grew into a series of ten oil paintings, each placing a dog or cat into a different world of human style and pop culture.
But for me, the idea also works the other way around. Maybe these animals are not only characters we project ourselves onto, but little reflections of something that already exists inside us, our playful, curious, stubborn, loyal, dramatic, or mischievous inner dog or cat. Through each painting, I wanted to play with this connection between who we are, how we see our pets, and the personalities we share with them.
The series brings together my love of traditional oil painting with contemporary popular culture, creating images that feel familiar, humorous, and unexpected.
