Boccadasse is a small fishing village on the Ligurian coast, full of charm and character. Whenever I am there, I feel a deep sense of serenity. Coming up these steps, with each movement upward, it’s as if I’m gradually arriving at that peaceful state. There’s something about the physical act of climbing—like you have to do something to reach the calm—that makes the moment more meaningful. Through this painting, I wanted to share that feeling.
I chose to work in monochrome to focus on the textures, light, and architectural details that give the village its timeless beauty. The narrow alley, cobblestone path, and closely packed buildings create a quiet rhythm that draws the eye inward and invites reflection.
It’s a peaceful moment captured in shades of gray, brown, and black—an invitation to slow down and experience the stillness that Italy offers.
